An Iranian court has ordered banning access to Instagram, a popular photo sharing network in the country.

The court made the decision after complaints from some citizens, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on May 23 citing judiciary source.

The citizens submitted complaints to the court saying the network's "violating their privacy," according to the source.

The court has submitted the ban order to the Iran's Information and Communications Technology Ministry for implementation.

Several of world's most popular networks, such as Twitter and Facebook are banned in Iran, while users are still able to access them via proxies. A proxy allows bypassing 'gates' meant to block certain sites.

Iran's president Hassan Rouhani recently vetoed a decision made by the Committee for Determining Criminal Web Content, headed by the prosecutor general of Iran to block WhatsApp, a popular mobile application.

It was reported on April 30 that Iran had banned access to WhatsApp messenger application in the country.
