Azerbaijani Center for Assistance to Victims of Human Trafficking provided assistance to 21 victims and 12 potential victims of human trafficking between January and May, the public relations department of Azerbaijani Interior Ministry said on June 10.
The center operates at the State Social Security Service of Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Ministry.
The assistance was provided based on the presentation from the Main Department on Struggle against Human Trafficking of the Interior Ministry.
The main focus will be ensuring these persons' employment through the development of professions in accordance with the requirements of the labor market and, if necessary, the provision of social assistance.
Between January and May, the center provided financial, legal and psychological assistance to such people, the ministry said.
At the same time, in order to increase the public awareness in this area the center held educational work in certain regions of Azerbaijan.
