It is important that young people educated abroad return to their homeland after graduation. There are already some opportunities related to providing these graduates with work, the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Mikail Jabbarov said Sept. 5 during a speech at the XII International Forum of Azerbaijani students and alumni educated abroad.

He said that the ministry is working on the improvement of activities in this area. Graduates of the state program have the opportunity to enter the civil service without competition.

Jabbarov noted that the government program on educating of young people abroad has been realized for about eight years. Until this day, some 2,902 people received the right to study abroad within the framework of the program. About 500 people were selected to study abroad under the state program this year. Given that this process is not yet complete, their number could increase.

He added that this year's selection process was held in conditions of greater competition than in the previous years.

Given the students' suggestions for improving the state program, certain reforms were carried out in this area. Some 714 people have become graduates of the state program. Most of them work in a variety of public and private structures of the country, the others continue their education. "We hope that the students' knowledge obtained abroad will be applied in the priority areas of the country," Jabbarov said.
