Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of the United States, said Samad Seyidov, MP and rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages at a joint event with the U.S. embassy, dedicated to the opening of the Baku American Center after an overhaul.
"Thanks to its position and policy, Azerbaijan can be an example for the countries in the region, as well as other countries," he added.
In his statement, Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Derek Hogan said that the center with modern equipment is an important component of the strategic cooperation between the countries.
First Deputy Director of the Public Relations Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the U.S. Department of State Rafik Mansour stressed that there are more than 700 American centers in the world, but there are few centers with modern equipment. He also expressed hope that the number of Azerbaijani students studying in the U.S. will continue increasing.
MPs Sevinj Fataliyeva and Asim Mollazade also appreciated the opening of the modernized center.
The American Center was opened in Baku in 2004. It has been operating in the building of the Azerbaijan University of Languages since 2007 . The center helps in learning English and getting information about the United States.
