Two earthquakes occurred in the Gabala region during a 24-hour period , the Republican Seismological Service Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) said Sept. 29.
An earthquake was recorded at 9:20 a.m. (local time), 25 kilometers north-east of Gabala city.
The epicenter was at a depth of 11 kilometers. The magnitude was 3.3. The earthquake was not felt.
An earlier earthquake in Gabala occurred at 6.38 a.m. (local time) Sept. 29. Its magnitude was 5.4. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. No casualties or damage was reported.
Another earthquake was also recorded in Lerik region. It occurred at 11:07 a.m. (local time), 22 kilometers north-east of Lerik city. The epicenter was at a depth of 20 kilometers. The magnitude was 3.2. The earthquake was not felt.
Gabala is located in the north of Azerbaijan, 220 km from Baku. The town of Lerik is in the south, 325 km from Baku.
