Azerbaijan prepares for "The Internet of Things" forum

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies initiated holding "The Internet of Things" (IoT) international forum as part of the "Bakutel-2014" exhibition in Baku on December 2-5, the ministry told Trend.

The event will be supported by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the World Economic Forum (WEF), the ministry said.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the interconnection of uniquely identifiable embedded computing devices within the existing Internet infrastructure. Typically, IoT is expected to offer advanced connectivity of devices, systems, and services that goes beyond machine-to-machine communications (M2M) and covers a variety of protocols, domains, and applications.

The experts in such areas as manufacturing, transportation, oil and gas, utilities, health care, governance, education and others will be invited for participation in the forum, the ministry said.

The technological issues associated with the IoT concept will be considered during this forum. The standards and solutions meeting the regulatory requirements, issues of their compatibility will be also discussed.
