Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 24
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
The government's socially oriented policy reduces the risk of political conflict in society, the Azerbaijani Labour and Social Protection Minister Salim Muslimov said Dec. 24.
He made the remarks at a conference titled "The 10 years of development: 2004-2014."
Muslimov said the focus on the social policy guarantees the well-being of every citizen.
He noted that Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev took these ideas as a basis for his activity and created an opportunity for Azerbaijan to become one of the socially prosperous countries.
The minister noted that the steps taken by Azerbaijan's president in the field of socio-economic development were reflected in his election platforms of 2003, 2008 and 2013.
"When President Ilham Aliyev first took part in the presidential election in 2003, his election platform included the tasks on opening 600,000 jobs in the country in five years, the rapid socio-economic development and poverty reduction," Muslimov said.
The minister went on to add that all of the abovementioned tasks play a direct role in the consolidation of society.
"The results of the 2008 election demonstrated that President Ilham Aliyev achieved the fulfilment of the set tasks," he noted.
Muslimov further said the president, in his 2008 election platform, took as a basis the modernization, rapid economic development, implementation of all economic and social programs, and growth of social welfare of the people.
The minister added that Azerbaijan's dynamic economic development in 2008-2013 made it possible for the president to indicate in 2013 in the new election platform that Azerbaijan is a social state.
