By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:

The Central Election Commission (CEC) must strengthen its work, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said at the commission meeting Aug. 29.

He said that Azerbaijan has achieved significant success in holding the election.

"I believe that we are successfully preparing for the election," he said. "The necessary conditions have been created. The political stability is observed in the country. The public has been enlightened. The election is being organized by the professionals."

Panahov did not rule out the possibility that the unpleasant situations may occur during the election.

"Millions of people vote in the election so such a situation is a normal phenomenon," he said. "However, the work of the members of the election commissions is to promptly and adequately respond to such an incident."

Panahov also said that all organizations, related to the election, including local and international observers, must contribute to their holding and cooperate constructively.
He also appealed to the local and international observers.

He said that the Electoral Code urges the observers to note only those facts that they have witnessed personally.

"The observer must inform only about the polling station at which he observes," he said.

"Everyone must make efforts for the election results not to cause any doubt. Perhaps, in this regard, I will send an official letter to the international organizations."

The parliamentary election in Azerbaijan will be held November 1.
