Azerbaijani parliament does not believe in US Congress’s adoption of bill
Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 18
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
There are enough friends of Azerbaijan in the US Congress, Ogtay Asadov, the speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, said.
"One can hardly expect them to approve the recently submitted anti-Azerbaijani project," he said.
"Some journalists try to inflate it, however, it is not worth doing this," Asadov said at a plenary session of the parliament Dec. 18.
The US Helsinki Commission, under the chairmanship of Congressman Chris Smith, has recently submitted an anti-Azerbaijani bill to the Congress.
"Earlier, Smith was a member of the Democratic Party, then - a member of the Republican Party," he said. "At present, he is a member of the Armenian diaspora and works for this diaspora."
