An Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism can be exemplary for the countries keeping away from this tradition, Kamal Abdulla, the Azerbaijani state adviser on international issues, multiculturalism and religion, told reporters Jan. 22.

"The Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism is viable," he said. "The interest in this model in the world is the result of recognizing Azerbaijan as a country having these traditions throughout the history."

Abdulla also spoke on the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, which will also work outside Azerbaijan.

He said that a branch of the Center has been already working in Dresden.

"Azerbaijan will continue this policy," he said. "The multiculturalism centers will be established in the country's districts, as well as Russia, Portugal and other countries in 2016."

Abdulla also said that teaching of multiculturalism will continue at the world universities.

2016 has been declared 'Year of multiculturalism' in Azerbaijan.
