The evacuation of crew from burning Russian PALFLOT 2 ship is being carried out, Russian Emergency Ministry's Southern Regional Center told Trend Apr. 23.

The fire occurred 150-kilometer away from Baku in Azerbaijan's territorial waters of the Caspian Sea, according to the Center.

"The evacuation has not yet been completed," said Russian Emergency Ministry, adding that the second tanker approached the burning ship, and the crew got evacuated.

The information about fire on Russian ship was received approximately at 09:30 (GMT+3), according to the ministry.

It was previously reported that Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations has joined the fire fighting on Russia's PALFLOT 2 ship.

Helicopters of the Emergency Ministry's aviation detachment, "Vikhr-5" fire-fighting ship of the ministry's State fire Protection Service and other ships in the vicinity have been involved in the operation.
