Trend:

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale hit an area in Azerbaijan's Imishli district on approximately 08:47 (local Baku time, GMT+4), Azerbaijan's Seismology Center told Trend.

No information yet on the damage and casualties from the Azerbaijani side.

There are no grounds for the population’s concern regarding the possibility of strong tremors in the areas hit by the earthquake, the center added.

This is due to the fact that the area is not a seismic one, according to the center.

Meanwhile, the earthquake was also felt in Iran's city of Parsabad.

The governor of Parsabad, Akbar Samadi told the Fars News Agency that a 62-year old man died from a heart attack during the tremors. He added that two more people got injured.
