Case against ex-Azerbaijani minister to be reviewed separately

A criminal case filed against Ali Abbasov, former Azerbaijani minister of communications and high technologies, and several people working in the companies which cooperated with the ministry, will be considered separately, an informed source told Trend October 26.

A criminal case filed against Ali Abbasov, former Azerbaijani minister of communications and high technologies, and several people working in the companies which cooperated with the ministry, will be considered separately, an informed source told Trend October 26.

According to the source, Abbasov and others are accused under articles 179.3.1 (misappropriation or embezzlement, committed by an organized group), 179.3.2 (large scale embezzlement), 308.2 (abuse of power) and 313 (office forgery).

The files of the criminal case against a number of former officials of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies, arrested on charges of misappropriation and abuse of office, were submitted to the Baku Court of Heinous Crimes, the source said.

According to the source, among those arrested are Vidadi Zeynalov, chief of the office of the ministry, Mahammad Mammadov, director general of Aztelekom LLC, Beytulla Huseynov, director general of Baku Telephone Communications production union, Anar Mustafayev, chief accountant of the production union, Jalil Jafarov, director general of AzInTelekom LLC, Gambar Beybalayev, director general of Azerpost LLC, Sahrab Gumbatov, chief accountant of "Optical communications, construction and installation" Ltd., Emin Mammadov, director of two companies, namely, Rabita Temir Tikinti #3 and Rabita Mulki Tikinti and others.

The trial will begin in the next few days.
