The General Prosecutor's Office, the Interior Ministry and the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan issued joint information about the death of two border guards, Trend reports.
As earlier reported, within the investigation conducted by the Azerbaijan Prosecutor General’s Office, one of the violators of the state border of Azerbaijan, Iranian citizen Hasanali Bargi, has been detained as suspects in the killing of two Azerbaijani servicemen and arrested by the court’s decision.
On May 15, three unknown persons violated the state border of Azerbaijan near the village of Gendara, Yardimli district, in the zone of the ‘Goytepe’ border guard service of the border troops of the SBS.
The violators didn’t obey the order of the border guards and started shooting at them with firearms. As a result, two Azerbaijani servicemen were killed.
“Today at about 10:00 (GTM +4), as a result of an operation carried out by the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and employees of the Border Service, a place was established where one of the participants in the crime, a citizen of Iran, Allahbakhsha Agai, was hiding on the territory of the Yardimli district. When showing armed resistance during the arrest, he was neutralized," the information said.
During the inspection carried out at the scene by the prosecutor's office employees, one AK-74 assault rifle, one magazine for it with 20 bullets, cartridges and other material evidence were found.
Intensive investigative and operational-search measures are being taken to identify and involve the third participant in the crime.
The public will be additionally informed about the results of the investigation.
