Baku Higher Oil School has hosted another Graduation Day for the students of the School of Project Management (SPM).
The event was jointly organized by Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) and the US-based Duke University with the technical support of TwentyEighty Strategy Execution, a leading international project management training company.
Congratulating the graduates, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov said that in addition to training English-speaking engineers, the university also conducts trainings and programs at the international level.
“People used to go abroad to attend such trainings. It is gratifying that high-level training programs and projects are already being implemented in our country in accordance with international standards. We are especially proud that Baku Higher Oil School organizes such trainings. Representatives of various organizations participated in the 10-month modular sessions conducted by high-level specialists. The participants gained knowledge and skills in the field of management. Now they will apply this knowledge in the companies where they work. The knowledge gained here is significant for career growth,” the rector said.
Highlighting the rapid development of processes and technologies in the world, SOCAR Vice President Khalik Mammadov said that people should always acquire new knowledge and skills to constantly develop themselves.
“Nowadays, we live in a competitive environment. In order to stay ahead and remain competitive in such an environment, we must constantly update our knowledge and skills. What you learn in this course will benefit you for the rest of your life. I would like to express my gratitude to BHOS for the implementation of such a project,” he added.

It should be noted that this time SPM graduates were 20 people holdingsenior positions in the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance, the American Chamber of Commerce, Baku Higher Oil School, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, SOCAR Petrofac LLC, Institute of Education of the Azerbaijan Republic and BP.
During the 10-month course, the participants took classes in 8 modules: Project Management; Cost Control; Risk Management; Agile & Lean; Project Leadership, Management and Communication; Contract Management; PMP Exam Preparation; Negotiation Skills for Project Managers. The trainings were conducted by professional teachers of international level.
As a result of the successful activities of the School of Project Management, the program has risen from the academic to the professional level. The graduates received the Professional Certificate in Project Management from Duke University, one of the strongest universities in the world.
At the end of the event, the participants were awarded certificates.
