BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. The European Wrestling Championship started in Budapest. Freestyle wrestlers competed in the 57, 65, 70, 79 and 97 kg weight categories at the continental championship, Trend reports citing Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.
Azerbaijani wrestler Magomedkhan Magomedov entered the fight from the 1/8 finals, where he was stronger than his rival from Lithuania (12:2) and advanced to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Magomedov defeated the Georgian opponent (14:7), and in the semifinals the Polish opponent (6:4).
In the final, the Azerbaijani wrestler won the gold medal of the championship, defeating an opponent from Hungary with a score of 11:5.
Another Azerbaijani wrestlers Aliabbas Rzazade, Haji Aliyev and Ashraf Ashirov won silver medals.
