BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Drug dealers who tried to cross the Iranian-Azerbaijani border opened fire on Azerbaijan's border guards, the State Border Service (SBS) said, Trend reports.

According to the service, one of the violators, an Iranian citizen, was killed.

The incident took place on the territory of the border post of the "Horadiz" border detachment of the SBS near the village of Shikhali-Aghali, Jabrayil district at nearly 20:45 (GMT+4) April 4, when six armed persons were seen violating the state border from Iran.

At the border post, the drug dealers didn't obey orders to stop, and opened fire on the burder guards. The border guards had to open fire in return, killing one man, while the remaining two escaped.

The killed violator was revealed to be Behnam Balai, an Iranian citizen.

During the investigation, it was established that the neutralized violator of the border is an Iranian citizen Behnam Balai. A Kalashnikov assault rifle along with over 32 kilograms of drugs were found on him.

Meanwhile, the border guards managed to capture another violator, Mohammad Zarehi Tagi, also an Iranian citizen. Measures are being taken to search for other violators.

The Iranian side was informed about the incident through the border representatives.
