BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 4. The General Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan have issued a joint statement in connection with an armed incident in one of the hypermarkets located in the Khatai district of Baku city, Trend reports.
"As a result of the incident, Samir Sheydayev, an employee of Unibank Commercial Bank OJSC, received gunshot wounds, and Rufat Gashimov, an employee of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, who organized his protection, died. Prosecutors and police officers, with the participation of criminologists and experts, examined the scene and the body of the deceased, other necessary actions were taken and evidence of importance to the case was seized. There were grounds for suspecting that the incident occurred as a result of an armed attack on the victims while placing a large amount of money in an ATM belonging to the specified bank and installed in a hypermarket.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office under Articles 29, 120.2.7 (attempted murder of two or more persons), 120.2.1, 120.2.4, 120.2.11 (murder committed in a generally dangerous way by a group of persons, accompanied by robbery), 181.3 .2 (robbery for the purpose of taking property on a large scale) and 228.2.1 (illegal acquisition of firearms).
Currently, investigative and operational-search activities are ongoing aimed at identifying persons suspected of committing a crime. The public will be provided with additional information on the results. Once again, we ask media representatives and users of social networks not to share information that has not been clarified by the official body," the statement said.
