BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 19. The glitch in the “Windows” system has caused the stoppage of services in various sectors around the world, the statement of the Electronic Security Service (ESS) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transportation of Azerbaijan said, Trend reports.
“The so-called Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) has appeared on equipment running the Microsoft Windows operating system around the world. This error has occurred following the latest FalconSensor software update from CrowdStrike, an information security solutions company. At this time, it is recommended that Windows operating system updates be suspended until Microsoft makes an official statement about the problem,” the statement from the service said.
To note, large-scale disruptions in the work of airlines in the US are recorded against the backdrop of a global outage. The media reported on July 19 that the three largest US airlines - United Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Airlines - suspended flights due to connectivity problems.
According to several reports, the British TV channel “SkyNews” was disconnected from the air, and “Windows” is working with interruptions.
Furthermore, Berlin Airport also announced possible check-in delays due to a technical malfunction.
Spain's airports also experienced a computer system failure. The operator, "Aena,” stated that this could result in flight delays.
The media also reports about the suspension of flights at several UK airports and Turkish Airlines, emphasizing that this occurred due to a “major global break”.
Australia has experienced an IT system outage that affected not only airports but also banks and supermarkets. According to the Australian newspaper WA Today, payment systems, including Apple Pay, were affected.
The preliminary reports from India's Times Now indicate that the cause of the global glitch was the latest update by US cybersecurity service CrowdStrike.
Irish airline Ryanair and Edinburgh Airport (Scotland) also raised alerts about the problems.
