KALBAJAR, Azerbaijan, September 4. The newly inaugurated "Istisu" substation will supply electricity to crucial facilities in the Kalbajar district, including the under-construction Istisu sanatorium and the Istisu mineral water plant, Trend reports.

The substation is powered through a dual-circuit overhead line with a capacity of 110 kV from the 110/35 kV Kalbajar substation, Deputy Head of Operations at the Karabakh Regional Office of “Azerishig”, Rashad Ibrahimov told reporters.

"Istisu substation will contribute to the creation of a 110 kV ring power supply scheme by connecting with the 110/35 kV Gorchu and Lachin substations," Ibrahimov said.

The substation is equipped with two 110 kV transformers with a capacity of 40 MVA each, along with modern 110- and 35-kV gas-insulated switchgear. It is integrated into an automated SCADA system and features remote control telecommunication devices, a modern electronic relay protection system, and automation.

Future plans include installing 35 kV lines with self-supporting insulated conductors to ensure stable electricity supply to the villages of Istisu, Alagollar, Zeylik, Zar, and other regions.

The facility is also designed to integrate renewable energy sources, with provisions for staff quarters, control rooms, and security. The area is landscaped with trees and equipped with an irrigation system.

On September 2, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the inauguration of the 110/35/10 kV “Istisu” substation, owned by “Azerishig” OJSC, in the Istisu settlement of the Kalbajar district.
