BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. The launch of a new program at the Italy-Azerbaijan University is a key milestone in strengthening the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy, said the Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Luca di Gianfrancesco, Trend reports.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the new program at ADA University, Ambassador di Gianfrancesco emphasized that the introduction of the undergraduate program would be another significant achievement in the development of the Faculty of Food and Agricultural Sciences.
The Ambassador highlighted the importance of the university not only as a center for knowledge and experience exchange but also as a hub for innovations and new solutions aimed at addressing global challenges, such as climate change, desertification, food shortages, and overpopulation.
“The role of such a school today is even more significant than we could have imagined just a few years ago. I am confident that it will also help carry on the legacy and ideas presented at the recently held COP29 conference in Baku, successfully organized by the Azerbaijani presidency and the UN,” he noted.
He also pointed out that the Italy-Azerbaijan University would foster greater opportunities for knowledge exchange, education, collaboration, and the development of new business contacts.
“The presence of representatives from the business communities of both Azerbaijan and Italy at today’s ceremony is a testament to that,” the ambassador added.
To note, the foundation stone of the Italy-Azerbaijan University was laid at the ADA University campus in Baku on April 2, 2022. The university will include two institutes: the Institute of Agriculture and Food Sciences, as well as the Institute of Design and Architecture. Additionally, student dormitories are planned to be built on the campus.
