KISH RIVER MIGHT DAMAGE NEARBY SETTLEMENTS IN NEAR PROSPECT

Kish River is probable to damage the nearby settlements in the near future, the National Academy of Sciences told Trend.

Budag Budagov, the Director of the Geography Institute, said that intensive use of the summer pastures, cut of woods, strengthening of the airing process over the past 2-3 centuries, cause the flood structures. All mountainous rivers, including the Kish River gradually destroy the mountains and carry them to plain. The water contain in the flood structure comprised of stones, shingles, decreased 30%. The last 4-5 years saw strong overflood in the Kish River. The general square of the river pool is 265 sq m. The length of the river 33km. The left bank in the lower floor, starting from Soyugbulag and to the south, was henced with concrete walls with regard to protect it from floods, but it narrowed the width of the river.

The specialists said the river is probable to evolve serious threats to the nearby settlements unless operative measures are taken.
