Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources proposes options for cleaning Caspian Sea from sewage waters

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) proposes various options for cleaning the Caspian Sea from sewage waters, the Minister of Ecology told Trend.

According to him, the Ministry comes out with the initiative to carry out general overhaul of the collectors owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), to ban flowing off the sewage waters here from the nearby residential areas and provide these areas with their own sewage system.

"The second option is installation of modular facilities for cleaning the sewage waters in Baku suburbs. These modular units may cost per $250,000", вЂ" the minister said.

Bagirov said, among the proposals there is also cleaning and drainage of lakes, where the sewage waters penetrate. "The main part of these proposals has been discussed with the Azerbaijan’s President and he assessed it positively and gave relevant proposals”, he concluded.
