Azerbaijani chess-player Firuza Velikhanly ranked 5 in the memorial tournament A of prominent soviet chess-player Bikova held in Vladimir town, Russia. Scoring 5.5 points, Velikhanly was left behind by the winner of the tournament, Russian Pogonina (8.5), German Pets, as well as Russians Sudakov and Zimina.
Ranking 5, Turkan Mammadyrov demonstrated the best play among the Azerbaijani chess-players in the tournament B. Mehriban Shukurova ranked 7, while Afag Khudaverdiyeva shared 8-11 places.
