The public union Council on Political Prisoner Problems studies the investigative and legal documents on the base of the addresses by some political prisoners, the union told Trend. The meeting held with the participation of the representatives of 60 non-governmental organizations considered the information about the measures taken by the union in 2005. Anvar Gafarly, the chairman of the Council, reported that the cooperation with CE gave high results and stressed that the measures in this direction would be continued hence.
The Council on Political Prisoner Problems started objective study of the cases of the people called political prisoners. The experts of the union are currently studying the investigative and legal documents of the some prisoners addressed to the Council. Besides, the criteria of the expression political prisoner was more improved in the Baku declaration adopted in relation to the investigative and legal cases of the prisoners presented to CE as political prisoners. The final documents prepared by the Council on Political Prisoner Problems were submitted to the MPs during the sessions of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) in April and June 2005. During the meetings international experts did not have clams to the documents, Gafarly stressed.
At the meeting the members of the Council discussed some issues and admitted new members to the union.
