Territory of the protected lands in the country grew on 12% after the creation of the 2 new national parks

The Ecology and Natural resources ministry with the German contribution ($2, 55m) starts creation of the new national park- Yalam-Samur national park. It is planned to be created within the next 2 years, the Ecology and Natural Resources minister, Huseyn Bagirov told Trend.

It is also expected to create one more national park- Shahdag park. The works are financed by the World Bank ($18m), half of the provided resources are allocated in the form of a grant. The remaining means are provided as a long term credit for 40 years term.

After both of these projects will be over the total territory of protected lands in Azerbaijan will increase on 12%.

According to the minister, the tree cutting has substantially decreased in the country. A medical center and a lab will be created at the territory of Altiagach national reserve to treat the wild animals, the minister added.
