Prize fund of forthcoming Bulgarian-Azeri chess match to be $1.5m Bulgarian Amb to Azerbaijan
In March 2007 the two world renowned grand masters, the chess champions on FIDE version, Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria and Teymur Rajabov of Azerbaijan, who ranks 13th in world classification will gather in Baku, Ivan Palchev, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Bulgaria, told Trend.
A relevant agreement has been achieved during the visit of the Azerbaijani Minister for Youth and Sports, Azad Rahjimov, to Bulgaria.
The prize fund of the game is $1.5m.
Topalov with a rating of 28044 has taken the first pod in FIDE classification as of May, whereas Rajabov holds 2717 points in its balance. Topalov is elder than the Azerbaijani grand-master by 12 years.
