The Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan doesnt organize the visit of Azerbaijani journalists to this country to get familiar with the events happening in Iran over the recent period, Afshar Suleymani, the Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan told journalists, Trendreports.

He noted that the embassy doesnt accept the position and approach of journalists desiring to visit Iran to get familiar and hold investigations over the events happening in Iran. We dont accept the approach of the journalists saying that they dont believe the embassy and should see everything with their own eyes. In a normal process, Azerbaijani journalists have repeatedly left for Iran. But the word of the journalists desiring to visit Iran is that they should go, see everything with their own eyes and then, believe us. Who are these journalists and why should they hold investigation? Who may accept such action? the ambassador emphasized.

Suleymani added that the embassy organize the visit of Azerbaijani journalists to Iran several times a year and such visits will be organized, but not in connection with any events.

Besides, the ambassador expressed his attitude towards the mass arrest of Azerbaijanis after the protest action in Iran and the information that more than 11 thousand Azerbaijanis are in prisons. He told that such arrests are not carried out and this information doesnt correspond to reality. There is not any prison in Iran bringing together 11 thousand Azerbaijanis. Only the people who made provocation, fired objects and broke the stability during the protest actions may be arrested, he added.
