Conference on Khojali Tragedy to Take Place in Kiev in February 2007

In February 2007, Ukrainian Azerbaijani Congress (UAC) together with World Azerbaijani Congress (WAC) are arranging a large conference in Kiev dedicated to the Khojali genocide, Trend reports quoting Ogtay Efendiyev, Chairman of UAC.

Efendiyev said that during the visit of WAC Chairman Javad Derekhti to Kiev they agreed to arrange this conference in early 2007. UAC undertook all the organization of the event. It was also agreed to invite to the event the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, representatives of Azeri diaspora from various countries, members of the Azeri parliament and officials of the State Committee for Work with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad.

Efendiyev added the object of the conference is to seek ways to develop the Azeri diaspora, define the program of joint activities, discuss the challenges diaspora faces and the public awareness of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and genocide in the town of Khojali. The conference is scheduled for 26 27 February.

On the anniversary of World Azerbaijanis Solidarity, said Efendiyev, UAC is arranging a celebration in Kiev on 25 December. The event is taking place in the banquet hall of the Cabinet of Ministers with participation of Azeri people residing in Ukraine and other CIS Countries.
