Religious Leaders of Azerbaijan and Russia Confirmed Their Adherence to Keep High Level of Friendship and Good-Neighborhood Relations

The religious leaders of Azerbaijan and Russia confirmed their adherence to keep the high level of the friendship and good-neighborhood relations. The meeting between the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Department (CMD) Sheikh Ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade and Patriarchy of Moscow and All Russia Aleksey II took place in Moscow, Trend reports quoting the CMD.

During the meeting, the religious leaders of Azerbaijan and Russia mentioned their readiness for more active interaction between the two nations and promoting the high level of the understanding between leaders of the Christian and Muslim communities. The CMD Head voiced his confidence that the regular meetings of the religious leaders will assist in development of religious approach of the two nations, peace and consent in the society. In addition, Pashazade expressed his gratitude to the Patriarchy of Moscow and All Russia for organizing inter-religious forum which took place in Moscow this summer.

The dialogue between the religious leaders assumes a great importance for the understanding and co-operation, Aleksey II told at the meeting. He expressed his gratitude to Pashazade for attending and making contribution to the Moscow meeting of the religious leaders, mentioning the significance of such forums in the future. The sides mentioned the great importance of the summit for the development of the inter-religious dialogue. In addition, during the meeting, the sides touched upon the conduct of the International Conference of Religious Leaders with the participation of the clergies of the region and guests from various countries.
