The National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council has made a decision to suspend the broadcasting of TV Channel ANS (Azerbaijan News Service and Broadcasting Station ANS CM (CM Chingiz Mustafayev) starting from November 24, 2006, a source in the Council told Trend.
The information spread by the Council informs that a meeting of the Council has been held today. An appeal sent by ANS concerning prolonging its license was considered during the meeting. The media was shut down in accordance with the requirements of Article 22.4 of Bill On TV and Radio Broadcasting, as well as the fact that ANS TV And Broadcasting Channel frequently violated repeated forewarns and penalty provisions of the National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council, and showed its insincere position toward the rebukes and forewarns made by the Council concerning those infringements. The Council made a decision not to prolong the term of the license for the activity of ANS TV and Broadcasting Station ANS-CM, and suspend the broadcasting of the latter ones starting from 15:00 p. m., November 24, as well as announced a competition to substitute these frequencies by other media source.
The Council pointed out that the forthcoming competition issue was expected to be held during the next meeting of the Council. ANS is allowed to participate in this competition as well.
In the interview with Trend, Mais Mammadov, Director General of ANS Group of Companies, said that early in the morning, the leadership of the Company has been invited to the National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council. Nushirvan Mahharamli, Chairman of the Council, forewarned them about the suspension of the broadcasting of ANS. Mr. Mammadov also said that the Company would continue its broadcasting until the moment an official document is presented to them.
