OSCE Baku Office Condemns Closure of Private TV Broadcaster in Azerbaijan

OSCE Baku Office has spread a statement concerning the closure of ANS (Azerbaijan News Service), Azerbaijan first private TV and radio broadcaster, Trend reports referring to a message spread by OSCE Baku Office.

The message points out that OSCE is concerned about the today's closure of the private media source.

Today, the National TV and Radio Council (NTRC) of Azerbaijan have adopted a decision not to extend the license for ANS TV and ANS-CM Broadcasting Station. The Council implemented this decision based on "the regular violation of the provisions of the legislation, and disregarding regular official warnings and fine sanctions made by the TV and Radio Council as well as demonstrating an insincere attitude towards comments and warnings given by the Council about infractions."
