The Chairman of the National TV and Radio Council of Azerbaijan, Nushiravan Maharramli, informed Trend that the heads of the companies offering the service of the cable television agree with our proposals regarding price decrease.

Maharramli met with the heads of the companies offering the service of the cable television and discussed with them the transmission of the foreign channels in Azerbaijan only through the cable satellite television. He said that the companies offering cable television service agree to decrease the subscriber fees. However, they ask to provide time for the transmission of the foreign channels through the cable broadcasting, and increase the number of the subscribers. We can not put price conditions before the cable network. But we made proposals and recommendations to them. The average monthly payment for the cable television will amount to AZN 8-9-10. We recommended that the maximum price should not exceed AZN 12-15. The Council will discuss the proposals to prolong the time, Maharramli said.

According to Maharramli, the transmission of the foreign channels in Azerbaijan will be terminated from January 3 or in 3-6 months. We do not support making hard decisions. At the same time, we did not undertake liabilities before anybody, Maharramli said.
