(askmen.com) - Alicia Keys wants to buy a gun to protect herself.
The singer-and-actress learned to shoot in her new movie 'Smokin' Aces' and is now seriously contemplating buying a gun.
Keys - who makes her movie debut in the film - said: "I've never owned a gun, but I'm seriously considering owning one now. God forbid, if anything happened I would be prepared."
Last week, the star confessed to carrying a knife for protection when she was a teenager growing up in tough New York neighbourhood Hell's Kitchen.
Keys isn't the only female celebrity considering buying a gun.
Last week, RenГ©e Zellweger revealed she wants to purchase a firearm.
The 'Miss Potter' actress finds living alone "scary" and has considered buying a weapon to make her feel safer.
RenГ©e, 37, said: "People usually mean no harm, but it's scary if there is a car idling outside your house in the middle of the woods at four in the morning.
"You realise you can't live there any more. It's sad, but that's how it works. It's no big deal. It's just a job hazard.
"I don't want to own a gun, but sometimes I do think about it."
