Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamghizi / The organizing congress of the Azerbaijani-Israeli Association "Az-Iz" to be held in Israel on 12 April will be attended by 400 participants.
An Azerbaijani delegation will be in attendance as well. Issues for the preparation for the congress have been settled.
"Az-Iz" will bring together the Jews who left Azerbaijan. The main purpose of the organization is to support the development of relationships between Azerbaijan and Israel. The association will include 12 committees, with one of them being the Committee of the Azerbaijanis Residing in Israel Affairs. The committee will be established in order to integrate the Azerbaijanis residing in Israel into society, to support their national and moral values and to offer assistance to protect their rights.
"The idea to unite the Jewish organizations that have left for Israel and who are operating there, emerges from our love for Azerbaijan," the committee noted.
Israel expressed a great interest for the unification of the Jews communities, who came from Azerbaijan. We presume the Jewish communities of Azerbaijani origin residing in different countries around the world will also join the Azerbaijani-Israeli International Community.
Representatives for the congress have been selected from separate regions of Israel. From 30 Azerbaijani communities uniting 27,000 Jews living in over 26 Israeli cities, 390 representatives were selected for participation in the congress. The last elections were held in the city of Ashdot on April 9th. The event was attended by 200 persons.
Representatives of the congress met with the Azerbaijanis residing in the city of Khaifa on 9 April. The officials from the Israeli government, along with the representatives of the local community and media were in attendance.
