Azerbaijan to Implement European Court Decision

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The authorized representative of Azerbaijan to the European Court on Human Rights, Chingiz Askerov, said that the decision of the European Court with regards to Azerbaijan will be implemented within the appointed period.

He said that the decision on the cases of Sardar Jalaloglu and Fahmin Hajiyev have already begun to be implemented. The decision on the case of Sardar Jalaloglu came into force on 11 April. The complaint of Fahmin Hajiyev describes the contravention of the articles 6, 7 and 14 of the Convention on Human Rights. According to the decision of the European Court, Azerbaijan should pay off an indemnity in the amount of €3,000 for moral damages and €2,500 for the expenses on Court to Hajiyev. Sardar Jalaloglu appealed to the court with a complaint of illegal arrest in October 2003. According to the decision of the European Court, Azerbaijan should pay €10,000 to Jalaloglu.
