Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr I. Alizadeh / Regional TV companies will be opened in several Azerbaijani regions, the chairman of the Azerbaijani National Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting, Nushiravan Maharramli, said on 30 May.
According to Maharramli, the companies will function in Ali-Bayramly, Shamakhy, and one of the regions in Aran area (Imishli, Saatli, and Bilasuvar). "We have plans to open TV channels in several regions despite the difficulties related to a scanty advertisement market," he added.
Development of state programs is not expected. "Regional TV channels belong to different entrepreneurs. The state has to support them the same way as other organizations. Regional TV companies can receive credits allocated for development of entrepreneurship," the Chairman stated.
Fourteen regional TV channels are operating in Azerbaijan.
