Hearings of Azerbaijani Former Economic Development Minister Continue with Victims’ Testimonies

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Javadova / The criminal trial involving Azerbaijan's former Minister of Economic Development, Farhad Aliyev, his brother Rafik Aliyev, former President of the Azpetrol Group of Companies, and seventeen other people, continues at the Court of Heinous Crimes presided over by Judge Tofik Pashayev.

The questioning due to misappropriation of privatization checks, allocated for distribution among veterans and invalids of the Nagorno-Karabakh war by the decree of the President in 2004 was held on 13 June.

The nine victims questioned noted in their testimonies that in response to their proposals to local Banks to receive vouchers between August and November 2004, they were proposed of AZN 20,000 instead. The victims explained that they refused the money and did not receive their checks from the vouchers.

At the end of the testimonies the victims demanded they be granted their vouchers, stated as appropriated by Farhad Aliyev, the former Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister.

The Court trial is appointed to 14 June.
