Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend К.Zarbaliyeva / New legal proceeding was instituted against the editor-in-chief of Gundalaik Azerbaijan and Realniy Azerbaijan newspapers'.
Uzeyir Jafarov, the department head of Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper, stated on 4 July that Eynulla Fatullayev, the editor-in-chief, was arrested by the decision of Sabayil District Court.
The criminal case has been brought against Fatullayev in accordance with Article 214.1 (threatening with terror) and 283.2.2 (abuse of service powers to provoke social, national, race and religious hostility) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
Arif Babayev, the head of the Public Relations Center at the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry, said the investigation was in the progress.
In compliance with the lawsuit brought by Tatyana Chaladzeh, the head of the Center on Protection of Rights of Refugees and Internally Displaced People, on 20 April Fatullayev was charged with Article147 (calumny) and was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
The Azerbaijani National Security Ministry instituted new proceeding against Fatullayev on the facts of threatening with terror on 16 May. Fatullayev was removed from the Bayil investigation cell to the National Security Ministry's isolation cell.
