Azerbaijani School Leavers take Entrance Exams on Second Specialty Group on 27 July

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The school leavers will participate in the entrance examinations on the second specialty group (economy, management, sociology and geography) on year 2007/08.

The examinations will be held from 11:00 to 14:00 hours. In preparation, the school leavers assembled in front of the buildings from 9:00 hours.

The Azerbaijani State Commission on Student Admission has reported that 19 State and 13 private Universities train specialists of the second group on 49 specialties.

About 18,000 students have submitted applications for the second group, 12,779 boys and 5,192 girls. A total of 14,245 school leavers will write the exams in Baku schools, 766 in Nakhchivan and 2,960 in Sumgayit. 22 buildings were allocated for the examinations in Baku, 2 in Nakhchivan and 5 in Sumgayit. 1,124 teachers will be supervising the exams from Baku and Sumgayit schools.

54% of school leavers of the second specialty group are city residents. 12,160 school leavers of the second specialty group are last year's high school graduates,67 are foreign citizens, 99 have higher education, 455 are school leavers of average specialty educational institutions. The oldest school leaver is 51 years and the youngest is 15 years.

In 2006 102 school leavers of the second specialty group collected above 600 points. The highest marks in this group were 697,500 points. 26 school leavers were awarded with scholarships by the Azerbaijani President. The number of school leavers to the second group in 2007 is more as compared to previous years.

Examinations reveal that the second specialty group are the second prospective group after the first (Technical). 1,107 planned places in the second group out of 7,270 were allocated General Economy, 488 Engineering, Economy and Management and 447 with business and management.
