Nursultan Nazarbayev - leader of the country that is home to Sacha Baron Cohen's comic character Borat - asked for the singer to perform at his party.
A source said: "Jamelia is huge in Kazakhstan and the president requested her for his party and she had a ball. And, of course, she did a few Borat impressions."
After a string of hits, Jamelia's last LP Walk With Me flopped in the UK and she parted company with label Parlophone.
But as Borat would say, her latest gig was a jagshe-smash.
