Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / A vehicle with soldiers overturned in Azerbaijani Gadabey region on 7 August. According to military sources, the vehicle owned by a military unit overturned while going upland nearby the Shurabad settlement. The vehicle was being driven by Jamaladdin Bayramov, who was on urgent military service.
As a result of the accident, Vusal Mehdiyev, from Giyasly village of Aghdam region, was killed. He was drafted for military service by the Barda Region Military Registration in the October of 2006. Four soldiers were also injured and sent to hospital.
A criminal case has been filed by the Gazakh Region Military Prosecutor's Office in accordance with Article 351.2 (violation of driving or vehicle operation regulations, resulting in death) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. The information has not yet been provided by the Defence Ministry.
At the end of 2006, a previous accident involving a military vehicle took place in Ganja city. The vehicle was carrying twenty-eight soldiers, and as a result, twenty-six people were mildly injured, while two soldiers received craniocerebral injuries.
