Uzbekistan creates agency for development of viticulture, winemaking

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On measures to improve the production and circulation of alcohol and tobacco products, as well as the development of viticulture and winemaking," Trend reports via the presidential press service.

The document states that the Agency for the Development of Viticulture and Winemaking has been established in Uzbekistan under the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Agency will implement a unified state policy in field of viticulture and winemaking, as well as develop and implement comprehensive targeted programs aimed at ensuring the dynamic development of viticulture and winemaking.

An Inspectorate for the Regulation of Alcohol and Tobacco Market under the Uzbek Ministry of Finance is also being established.

The inspectorate will license the production of food and technical ethyl alcohol, tobacco products, as well as wholesale trade in alcohol products.

The decree notes that Uzsharobsanoat JSC will be liquidated and the company's shares in the authorized capital of organizations will be transferred to the Agency for Management of State Assets of Uzbekistan.
