Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Secretary of State under the Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Affairs of France, will visit Uzbekistan this spring, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
"The purpose of the visit is to ensure the implementation of Uzbek-French guidebook of cooperation and agreements reached in October last year during Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to France," French Ambassador to Uzbekistan Violaine de Villemeur said.
Among other important events for the development of bilateral relations, the diplomat singled out the Week of the French Economy scheduled for the end of March, as well as the visit of the MEDEF mission in mid-May.
Contracts and agreements worth $ 5 billion were signed between the countries following the visit of Uzbek president to France last year. Moreover, Uzbekistan introduced a visa-free regime for French citizens on the eve of this visit.
Last year, the volume of trade between the countries exceeded $ 306 million, with a 19 percent increase compared to 2017. Nowadays, 16 enterprises with the participation of French capital, including two with 100 percent foreign capital, operate in Uzbekistan.
