Uzbekistan to establish new construction materials association

Uzbekistan will liquidate Uzstroymaterialy JSC and create the Association of Construction Materials Industry Enterprises (Uzpromstroymaterialy) on its basis, Trend reports with reference to the decree of head of state.

The chairman of new association and his deputies will be elected by the decision of the general meeting of its founders on the proposal of Ministry of Economy and Industry.

All enterprises of the construction materials industry entering on a voluntary basis will be able to become members of this structure. They will pay contributions to support the financing of association’s activities. In this case, these deductions will be excluded from the taxable base for corporate income tax until January 1, 2022.

The document also approved the renaming of Specialized Design Research and Development Institute "StroymaterialyLITI" into the Research and Engineering Center "UzstroymaterialyLITI".

A procedure will be introduced in the country from April 1, 2019 and, in accordance with it, a license for the right to use a subsoil block containing non-metallic minerals will be issued for geological studies within ten days from the date of application’s receipt.

Moreover, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the Ministry of Economy and Trade to develop and implement comprehensive measures for evolving new types of products, saturate the domestic market with domestic building materials and expand the geography of their exports in two months.

There are 67 investment projects planned to be implemented in Uzbekistan in 2019-2021 for technical and technological upgrading of existing and creation of new industries for $1.3 billion, including through foreign direct investment in the amount of $692 million.

As a result, it is planned to increase the output of building materials, bringing the production capacity of cement to 17 million tons by 2021, and 32 million square meters of architectural and construction glass., chipboard – 380,000 cubic meters, aerated concrete blocks – 700,000 cubic meters, wallpaper - 4.5 million rolls, large-panel concrete products for the construction of multi-storey buildings – 180,000 square meters.
