BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec.2

By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:

The period of tough quarantine regime, introduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, negatively affected the Azerbaijani car rental market, an expert on property issues Ramil Osmanli told Trend.

According to Osmanli, as a result of the pandemic, the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan, especially Baku has decreased. The tourism-related restrictions have seriously impacted the domestic car rental market.

"There is a decrease in prices in the car rental market. For example, previously cars were offered at a rental price of 50 manat ($29.4) per day, while the present rental price ranges within 35-40 manat ($20.6-23.5)," he said.

The expert stressed that rental prices of business class cars are likely to reduce because the cars were used mainly for weddings and other special events. Due to the practical absence of such events, interest in such vehicles has significantly gone down.

Totally, car rentals have decreased by 80 percent this year compared to 2019.
