Azerbaijan, partners creating new Eurasian map to stir up global cooperation - minister

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.12

Trend:

Azerbaijan and its partners are jointly creating a new map of Eurasia to stir up the geo-economic environment, sustainable development and global cooperation, said Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov, Trend reports.

Shahbazov made the remark at the 7-th ministerial video conference meeting within the Consultative Council of the Southern Gas Corridor.

“The commissioning of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) doesn’t mean the end of the Southern Gas Corridor project. On the contrary, it implies the beginning of new opportunities. Together with our partners, we are creating a new map of Eurasia that encourages the geo-economic environment and sustainable development, global cooperation,” he noted. “Azerbaijan has increased physical security of the energy corridor and eliminated military threats to this project by liberating its territories from the 30-year Armenian occupation (as a result of 44-day war from late Sept. through early Nov.2020) and thus restoring its territorial integrity.”

“Now, having completed the first phase of the Southern Gas Corridor, we are thinking about the next phase. The implementation of the second phase will ensure production of Azerbaijani gas in undeveloped fields to create new transit opportunities for future suppliers. I’m sure that during today's meeting of the Consultative Council, we’ll not only point out our common achievements, but also hold joint discussions related to further opportunities," added the minister.
