Azerbaijan and South Korea reached some agreements on participation of the Korean companies in restoring Azerbaijan’s territories [those liberated from Armenian occupation in the 2020 Karabakh war], Azerbaijani Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ramzi Teymurov told Trend.
According to Teymurov, the post-war period [following the 2020 Karabakh war] opened up great opportunities for the Korean companies to participate in the implementation of projects in Azerbaijan, including the liberated territories.
“Of course, these companies show great interest and are ready to contribute to the restoration work. The Korean companies are leaders in the field of construction, infrastructure creation, and facility design,” he said. “Work in this direction isn’t one-sided. Such negotiations are being conducted in a bilateral format - both by the Azerbaijani embassy in S.Korea and by the the country's ambassador in Baku, as well as through interaction of Korean government organizations with government structures of Azerbaijan. Some results have already been achieved in this direction.”
The ambassador stressed that the decision of the Azerbaijani government plays a key role in achieving the results.
"We, in turn, will actively participate in tenders, bring the decisions of the Korean companies in line with the requests of the Azerbaijani side," Teymurov noted.
S.Korea has vast experience and potential in the implementation of smart projects, the diplomat further said.
“In S.Korea, about 10-15 years ago, the implementation of the smart city and smart village projects was launched. Today, a village has been created in the vicinity of Seoul that fully corresponds to the smart city project,” he reminded, adding that the state structures of Azerbaijan have already been informed on this issue.
The construction of facilities in accordance with the design of the Korean companies, the introduction of Korean innovations and technologies on them give South Korea an advantage in terms of participation in these projects, concluded Teymurov.
