Belarusian IBA Group ready to implement AI-based trade technology in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 31

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

Belarusian IBA Group, an IT company based in Minsk, is ready to introduce a technology based on artificial intelligence (AI), which analyzes commodities placed on store shelves, in Azerbaijan, Goods Checker Product Development Manager Anastasia Bordak told Trend on Aug.31.

According to Bordak, the neural network can recognize different categories of goods with an accuracy of 95 percent.

"Azerbaijan is ready for the widespread introduction of artificial intelligence. This is evidenced by international studies. For example, Azerbaijan ranks 64th out of 194 in the level of AI use in the global Artificial Intelligence Index from Oxford Insights. This is higher than its neighbors: Georgia - 76th place, and Armenia - 81st place," she added.

The company’s representative noted that computer vision is already actively used in a number of CIS countries.

"Russia is the leader in the use of artificial intelligence - almost all large retail chains there automate their processes with the help of this technology," she said.

Bordak also noted that one of the examples of automation was developed by IBA Group specialists.

"They are developing the Goods Checker product, which allows retail outlets and manufacturers to increase sales of goods. The development has already been successfully tested in several large CIS companies, and Azerbaijan is showing interest in it," she further said. “Goods Checker automates the merchandising process: creating planograms [diagrams showing how and where specific retail products should be placed on retail shelves or displays in order to increase customer purchases], assisting in the placement of goods, analytics for planogram compliance.”

“All these processes involve a large number of mechanical operations. Thanks to Goods Checker, these processes can be automated, and artificial intelligence in an IT solution helps to minimize the human factor, reduce processing time and improve the accuracy of information provided by employees,” the manager pointed out. “Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a part of many business processes. Thanks to Data Science, computer vision and machine learning, companies better understand their audience and learn about market trends in advance, and we see interest from Azerbaijani companies in these technologies.”

She stated that not only trade networks but also product manufacturers can use the technology in Azerbaijan.

“This will allow them to receive detailed analytics on merchandisers, representation of products on shelves and their distribution in stores. The service can recognize goods throughout the country, in any city and store where the desired products are sold,” Bordak added.

“Thus, as a result of the use of artificial intelligence, the accuracy of the analyzed information increases and the human factor is minimized. The introduction of the technology increases the number of sales and reduces the audit time of outlets due to up-to-date and timely statistics," she stressed.
