Azerbaijan’s Baku city registers rise in trade turnover in 2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 3

The trade turnover volume increased by 4.2 percent or 2.6 billion manat ($1.5 billion) in Azerbaijan’s Baku city in 2021 compared to 2020 and amounted to about 25.6 billion manat ($15.05 billion), the Baku City Statistics Department told Trend.

According to the Baku City Statistics Department, sales of food, beverages and tobacco products in Baku’s shops increased by 5.2 percent or 1.6 billion manat ($941 million) in 2021 compared to 2020.

The sales of non-food products increased by 3.4 percent or 974 million manat ($572 million) for the year and exceeded 12.3 billion manat ($7.2 billion).

According to the Baku City Statistics Department, 34 percent (an increase of 4.6 percent) of sold products accounted for enterprises having the status of a legal entity, 50.6 percent (decrease of 3.6 percent) – for trade facilities owned by businessmen, 15.4 percent (decrease by one percent) - for Baku’s markets.

The trade turnover increased by 0.5 percent in Baku in 2020 compared to 2019 and amounted to 23.06 billion manat ($13.6 billion).

Sales of food, beverages and tobacco products in Baku increased by 6.4 percent in 2020 compared to 2019 and exceeded 11.8 billion manat ($6.9 billion). Sales of non-food products decreased by 4.6 percent and amounted to 11.3 billion manat ($6.6 billion).

Some 29.4 percent of sold products accounted for enterprises having the status of a legal entity, 54.2 percent – for trade facilities owned by businessmen, 16.4 percent - for Baku’s markets.
